Endangered SEA TURTLE Facts and Resources

There are seven different species of Sea Turtle.  Nearly all are considered endangered. Loggerhead (threatened), Green Turtle, Leatherback, Hawksbill, Kemp's Ridley (most endangered), Olive Ridley, and Flatback.  All Sea Turtles found in U.S. waters are listed as endangered.  Sea Turtles survived even when the Dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago. Today, the major threats to Sea Turtles are fishing nets, human trash (especially plastic bags), illegal trade, and habitat loss.
